  • Bordered by two rivers which made the land fertile.
  • Mesopotamia is thought to be the birth place of civilization.
  • Mesopotamia was ruled by 3 great Empires. The Sumers, Baylonians, and Assyrians.
  • One great ruler from these empires was Sargon.
  • They ate daily meals of fruits, vegetables, spices, meats, including fish, pork and goat.

  • Egypt was the main trading partner.

  • Egypt gave Mesopotamia gold in exchange for wood.
  • They had four currencies with a standard value, these currencies were used to pay for things.
  • Currencies were the medium of exchange and a means of accumulating wealth
  • They developed multiplication.
  • They invented the military draft.
  • They invented the composite bow made up of animal horn, sinew and flexible wood.
  • In 607 BC, they began to develop standards for the serious study of astronomy.
