Recorder time is here!
Dear Third Grade Families,
January begins the season for recorder instruction in music class. For those of you who are new to this instrument, the recorder is the Baroque ancestor of the modern transverse flute. It is relatively easy to learn, fun to play, and provides an opportunity for further development of individual musical skills and concepts. The recorder also helps to enhance the group instruction experience as it completes the Orff ensemble.
This year students will be provided with a recorder at no cost. Each student will receive a Peripole Angel recorder, case, cleaning rod, joint grease, and a folder. Students will be responsible for having their recorders and folders at every music class once they are distributed. Recorder attendance, class participation in performance, and effort are all considered important parts of each child's music grade.
If a student loses his or her recorder, a replacement can be purchased at the school store for $7.00. Replacement folders can also be purchased in the school store for less than $1.00.
